Rhonda Riley has enjoyed being an artist all of her life. She has worked with oils, watercolor, pencil and pastels. Of all those mediums, watercolor is her favorite. Rhonda is a “detail” person and gets great satisfaction out of the “little” things. The bricks on a home, for instance, are always done with great care. A thatched roof, a stone fence or an accent of lace is sometimes just what is needed to complete a scene. Rhonda’s life is very fulfilling. With her husband and five children she finds great pleasure in her roles as wife, mother and artist.

A self-taught artist, who has taken a few lessons in watercolor to enhance her work, Joanne Foster, and her husband reside in Clovis, CA. Joanne has worked in oils and acrylics, but watercolor is her passion. She loves some of the unpredictability of the medium and the many wonderful effects you get when water and pigment are merged. Her inspiration for painting mostly comes from everyday life, such as old mailboxes, cottages and flowers. Joanne says, “I can’t remember a time when art was not a part of my life.”

Lynn Overend has enjoyed art as a hobby all her life. However, as a counselor for 25 years at a Phoenix, Arizona high school, and a mother of three, she rarely found time to seriously pursue art until recently. Mostly self-taught, she has found her true love in watercolors during the past three years. Her favorite subject is flowers, which she refers to as a “one of God’s most beautiful creations.” Each painting, she says, is begun with prayer, and the knowledge that, without His help, success would not be possible.

A wooded environment in the country is the childhood memory of Dorothy (Dottie) Day’s home in Missouri. Today, Dottie still lives in a log cabin built as early as 1810. The beauty of nature is the inspiration for her art, be it a miniature portrait, or a large architectural design, a cartoon, a book, or a three dimensional mural for a Fortune 500 corporation. Dottie considers the real purpose of her art is to bring pleasure to whoever sees it. |
